Spam Filtering
TechPeople can assist in implementing a number of SPAM filtering solutions. There are three main approaches to SPAM filtering:
- Filtering in the email client on each workstation
- Filtering on the email server
- Filtering on a front end server placed in front of the main email server
These approaches (as listed above) increase in both complexity, and therefore cost, and in effectiveness. Filtering on the workstation is the easiest to implement but all SPAM reaches the desktop and must be dealt with by the user. Filtering on the server can prevent the most obvious, and often most offensive SPAM. With this approach SPAM can be stopped at the server and never delivered to the user’s desktop. With the third approach this SPAM never reaches the server and thus the load on the server is reduced.
Like anti-virus software, anti-SPAM software requires constant monitoring and frequent updating. TechPeople can assist with recommending, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining effective anti-SPAM solutions.
